Japanese Shadona 1860-1880

The piece itself was brought into South Africa by a German family in 1904 having acquired it in Japan between 1895 and 1904. This intricate piece of Japanese ART is beautiful from every angel with the highly intricate hand carved doors, draws and side panels to the perfect and beautifully mitered back panels its truly an extraordinary impact on the senses.
Full of amazing intricate hand carvings, original and complete with the table stand. The Japanese Shadona (display cabinet) is an illustrious and prized piece of Furniture and a perfect addition for a lover of Asian antiques. The Sashimono (or Joinery) technique is absolutely perfect and sturdy with the ancient mortise and tenon interlocking technique. A true feast for your eyes and a centre-piece to adore and love for many years.

Restoration Undertaken
The wood has been been carefully cleaned and then a coat of French polish has been applied to preserve it beauty. Minor repairs have been done to restore minor breakages.
