I, Nicholas had been an avid and very passionate collector of Antiques for many years and always loved the old world design aesthetics, quality, craftsmanship, character and history it brought to my own home and the joy I feel in finding truly unique pieces. I informally started trading in Antiques and Collectables in 2022 to just a few family and friends. Pieces I had found in thrift shops or antique stores from across the country were suddenly in demand by others. People often comment "you have a good eye for quality." We officially opened with our online store and website in 2022 and our very own boutique store NostalgiaNique in 2023 at Lifestyle Garden Centre where we spent the next two years building our brand, learning our customers and learning from our customers, until we moved to the idyllic and charming New Home in Parkhurst.  

 

Having spent and built my 30 year career in contact centres and then Information Technology  it was a huge and very exciting step to start NostalgiaNique and in April 2023,  left my successful corporate role where I specialised in customer experience, design experience, data analytics and process efficiency with a number of blue chip companies. Passion for the planet, its people and the things people owned that are still beautiful and have held value drove me to the path of creating a company that evokes a sense of nostalgia while meeting modern expectations for quality, service and style. We are not your usual Antiques Shop but rather strive for a higher purpose than just selling second hand old stuff - we understand that "not everything that is old has value." and therefore carefully curate our selection of antique and vintage pieces.  We are a high-end luxury boutique store that respects every person and every piece we have the fortune to meet and have. Using knowledge and skills of my passed career I am able to build super-user friendly platforms that transform your antique shopping journey- like our bespoke safe and secure website is in-house built, designed and maintained by myself to ensure your safety and ease of use. In just four clicks your purchase is selected, ordered, paid and delivery arranged.

Our emphasis on the enjoyment of storytelling allows clients to connect with products history on a personal level but also allows and gives very you the next owner a very personal  connection the piece, our story and your new future story. Our chosen and very recognisable corporate colours of Ivory in the background is a reminder of "when we get it wrong" with over poaching of gorgeous animals for Ivory products that lasted for centuries using cruel and unsustainable methods and minimal accountability. The RED in foreground is an indication of our PASSION for ALL our Clients, our products, the passion in our service and also represents the passion and urgency to making the planet healthier by inspiring a new future of sustainable practices, encouraging re-use, re-purpose and recycling. We just love to inspire choices that help all off us be Better Custodians of our Planet, so future generations enjoy our world as much as we do. We are dedicated to sustainability, ensuring that our pieces not only preserve memories but also protect the future. The promises of #ART also means I had to invest in my own knowledge and currently am enrolled at the Asheford Institute of Antiques based in the Florida, United States of America where it is my goal to become an International accredited Antiques appraiser and expert advisor to You and the Antiques Industry in South Africa.
